ASTM F1869 MVER Moisture Test
Calcium chloride moisture testing to measure vapor emission from concrete slabs.
Service Description
ASTM F1869 Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER) testing measures the amount of moisture vapor released from a concrete slab using an anhydrous calcium chloride test method. This test provides a quantitative measurement of moisture emission rates and helps determine whether a concrete surface is suitable for receiving flooring systems. Excessive moisture vapor transmission is one of the leading causes of flooring failures, including adhesive breakdown, blistering, delamination, and loss of bond. Moisture testing before installation helps contractors, manufacturers, and facility owners verify concrete conditions and reduce the risk of costly flooring failures. The ASTM F1869 test is commonly used for: Vinyl flooring installations Tile and resilient flooring systems Wood flooring applications Epoxy and resin coating systems Adhesive and flooring warranty requirements Our testing process includes: Preparation and installation of calcium chloride test assemblies Measurement of moisture vapor emission rate Documentation of test locations and environmental conditions Professional reporting with measured results and observations Results are reported as pounds of moisture emitted per 1,000 square feet over a 24-hour period, allowing comparison with flooring manufacturer requirements and installation guidelines. Standards we comply with: ASTM F1869 – Standard Test Method for Measuring Moisture Vapor Emission Rate of Concrete Subfloor Using Anhydrous Calcium Chloride ASTM F2170 (when in-slab RH testing is required)
